Frequently Asked Questions
How do I search in these corpora?
The corpus management systems we use employ different query languages as documented on the main page. But to give you a head start, you can just enter a single word in double quotes (say, "in") in ANNIS or in TEITOK/CWB.
Will there be…?
Please submit any suggestions to add data or software via our feature request form.
Can we use this in class / for research…?
If you have any plans or questions, please contact us via our feature request form or send requests directly to the Chair of Applied Computational Linguistics (ACoLi).
Can we also work with proprietary/protected data?
Not directly. This portal is intended for data that is to be published online. We can limit access to intranet access only (from campus or via eduVPN), but this is intended for testing and development, but not as a permanent solution.
However, there are other possibilities, e.g., the local work stations at the LingLab. Please send requests directly to the Chair of Applied Computational Linguistics (ACoLi).
How do I turn my data into a searchable corpus?
For colleagues: Talk to us ;)
For students and PhD candidates: The Chair for Applied Computational Linguistics (ACoLi) provides regular courses on creating corpora, digital editions and linguistic annotations. In the summer, we normally offer a lecture “Computerlinguistisches Projekt” where we work together on digital projects either suggested by the participants, the lecturerers or collaborating colleagues.
